Son and grandson of poets, he was part of the Jaboatão Group, which, according to historian Tadeu Rocha, constitutes the source of the Generation 65 of Pernambuco poets.\n A radical experimenter in literary style, without forgetting the tradition that sustained him, he revived the meter of the blank octosyllable in his early poems and is responsible for the innovative creation of the \"retranca\" (eleven lines distributed in stanzas followed by a quatrain, a couplet, a tercet, and finally, a new couplet). The soil that provided him with poetic material was not only that of his beloved cities of Jaboatão, Olinda, and Recife, but that of Brazil as a nation waiting to be discovered. For him, poetry was the perfect vehicle for a journey into the unpredictable, within a country that still needs to be deciphered. \nIn 2001, he was included in the anthologies The Hundred Best Brazilian Poets of the Century and 100 Years of Poetry: A Panorama of Brazilian Poetry in the 20th Century. In the book Yacala (1999), Alfredo Bosi places him on a par with the poets Jorge de Lima, Carlos Pena Filho, and João Cabral de Melo Neto.","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47159436837116,"sku":"9788501109170","price":199.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0722\/9197\/5420\/files\/e20e40dbe917f16e22be18e0fcf063ad_bf64699a-7941-47c3-85cd-9af71932aaae.jpg?v=1778312746"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.record.com.br\/en\/collections\/alberto-da-cunha-melo.oembed","provider":"Editora Record","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
