Based on the story of a writer in crisis, the author explores the painful process of writing a book, addressing doubt, pain, and indecision in the act of writing, while simultaneously revisiting his own past and origins. \"I wanted the anguish of writing to be reflected in the text's material, permeating it in each sentence constructed with difficulty, laboriously, and becoming one of its themes,\" comments the author. \"That's why I made the writer my protagonist, so I could attribute to him my doubts, my concerns, my fears.\" And that's Sebastián, the protagonist: an obsessive individual who worries about rejecting everything that has ever been written, seeking narrative possibilities and trying to escape the impasse to which his personal history has relegated him. As he writes, Julián Fuks engages in the struggle between the extreme consciousness of narration and the power of ancestral memories, which Sebastián is summoning and reliving on his journey back to his childhood, to Buenos Aires. Not coincidentally, the Argentine capital is also the setting for the author's own memories, the son of Argentines who left the country during the dictatorship, and the apartment where he spent his childhood serves as the setting for Sebastián's memories. \"To a certain extent, I wrote this novel to explore some Argentineness that existed and still exists within me, to elaborate on so many comings and goings, to understand how my story is marked by a certain exile that I inevitably inherited,\" he reveals. Through a highly sensorial narrative, with a wide range of emotions and gestures beautifully translated into literary language, Julián Fuks fuses memory and fiction to reconstruct the personal story of a wanderer who searches his old haunts while discovering himself, becoming estranged, and rediscovering himself, only to discover and rediscover more. As Alcides Villaça notes on the book's blurb, \"In Search of Romance, one undoubtedly finds a novel about the search for the self, in a voice of our time.\"","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47174891536636,"sku":"9788501094742","price":59.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0722\/9197\/5420\/files\/29aae69903d063b3d92c48b2650b09c9.jpg?v=1779419907"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.record.com.br\/en\/collections\/julian-fuks.oembed","provider":"Editora Record","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
