The works of Bernardo Carvalho, Rubem Fonseca, Nélida Piñon, Milton Hatoum, Luiz Ruffato, Adriana Lisboa, João Gilberto Noll, André Sant'Ana, Silviano Santiago, and Cristóvão Tezza were studied by the author. The book is part of the Contemporary Collection, organized by Evando Nascimento. \"The attempt here will be to capture what is significant in current Brazilian fiction, in order to discern the continuities and, above all, the ruptures produced by contemporary writers,\" explains Karl Erik Schøllhammer. The concept of contemporaneity is the subject of reflection and comparison with recurring terms associated with its meaning, such as present, modern, postmodern, among others. The author analyzes various works of fiction, both collectively and individually, and contextualizes them within the Brazilian context. The literary critic also considers the insertion of these works into the globalized world. Another contribution to the debate on innovations in contemporary Brazilian literature is his reflections on the styles most frequently used in recent years, such as naturalism, hyperrealism, and the short story, and their main exponents. With these writings, the author believes the work can serve as a reference for literary criticism studies conducted in Brazil.","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47175746519292,"sku":"9788520009239","price":49.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0722\/9197\/5420\/files\/1cefb84bda4a95ab046169d0e7a53d9e.jpg?v=1778321576"},{"product_id":"cena-do-crime-violencia-e-realismo-no-brasil-contemporaneo","title":"Crime Scene: Violence and Realism in Contemporary Brazil","description":"Violence is a reality that every Brazilian lives with, or tries to live with. Sometimes our behavior is conditioned to such an extent that we become complacent in this strange coexistence. This book is the result of research on the presence of violence and crime in Brazilian art and literature. The author seeks to show how the reality of violence, deeply linked to the reality of large cities developing in the second half of the 20th century, poses a major challenge to literature and the arts, while also revealing a path of renewal and reformulation of content and its expressions. • Karl Erik Schollhammer is a renowned literary theorist and critic, professor in the Department of Literature at PUC-Rio.
