Today, she learns to live with the mistakes of the past through art and spirituality. At 73, she decided to tell her life story in a book, and she did it in the way she likes best: a conversation. \"Everything you want to know is in IN SEARCH OF THE LIGHT: MEMOIRS OF DORINHA DUVAL,\" confesses Dorinha. The book, written by journalist Luiz Carlos Maciel and publicist Maria Luíza Ocampo, began to take shape through a series of interviews. With a recorder running, Luiz Carlos captured Dorinha's memories and put them on paper. \"I've always been terrible at writing. Luiz Carlos is a calm person, so I thought it would be a good idea for him to write the book,\" explains Dorinha. In IN SEARCH OF THE LIGHT: MEMOIRS OF DORINHA DUVAL, the actress unravels her life, on a journey in search of her own soul. More than a biography, the book is the script of her quest for spirituality. Dorinha recounts the beginning of her acting career, her time in revues before moving on to television and film. Her success as a starlet, actress, and singer, and the beauty that earned her the title—much coveted at the time—of one of Lalau's good girls. The book isn't just about Dorinha's professional life. IN SEARCH OF THE LIGHT: MEMOIRS OF DORINHA DUVAL follows her childhood and adolescence, and her relationship with her parents. Her loves, her marriages, the birth of her daughter. And, of course, the murder of her husband—Paulo Alcântara—her time in prison, and her discovery of peace through spiritual development. This event, however, carries no greater weight than any other in Dorinha's life journey. \"I get the impression that people mark this, as if my life were only the moment of the tragedy. My life is a chain of events, and the murder is just one of them,\" he argues. This is the great lesson of IN SEARCH OF THE LIGHT: MEMOIRS OF DORINHA DUVAL: the human capacity to overcome adversity and rebuild life, learning from our own mistakes. IN SEARCH OF THE LIGHT: MEMOIRS OF DORINHA DUVAL is not in chronological order. Dorinha's story is conducted as a conversation with the reader. As she recounts one event, the actress recalls earlier ones and delves deeper into her memory. And then she returns to the present, where she has worked as a visual artist, painting and sculpting since 1997. Luiz Carlos Maciel was born on March 15, 1938, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, and currently lives in Rio de Janeiro. A theater director, lecturer, journalist, professor, screenwriter, and author of several books, Luiz Carlos also contributed to Pasquim and co-founded the Brazilian edition of Rolling Stones magazine. He taught theater at the Federal University of Bahia's School of Theater, where, after studying in the United States, he was already a professor of Acting, Directing, and Theater Theory. On the school's stage, he staged plays by Albee, Shaw, Chekhov, and João Cabral de Melo Neto. Considered a counterculture guru, Maciel also worked at TV Globo. Maria Luíza Ocampo is a publicist and lives in Rio de Janeiro.","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47175918518524,"sku":"9788501063526","price":49.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0722\/9197\/5420\/files\/b63952023fac2b8f9c866c26721f0c8b_b197fa3b-42c0-4f19-ac0c-7752a449aa63.jpg?v=1778324433"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.record.com.br\/en\/collections\/luiz-carlos-maciel.oembed","provider":"Editora Record","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
