In this book, the authors propose an ethics of freedom for living in today's world and articulate a possible constitution of our common well-being. In this case, \"common\" replaces the dichotomy between public and private, socialist and capitalist, and the policies based on this polarization. Examining events and scenarios around the planet, the authors analyze the logic of institutions and the governance models appropriate to our understanding of a global common well-being. And they articulate the theoretical foundations of what they call the government of revolution, capable of bringing together biopolitics, work, education, identity, and love. Although it functions as an extension and conclusion of a line of thought that has been sustained by Hardt and Negri, this book also speaks for itself, being perfectly accessible to readers who have not yet become acquainted with the previous works. And it will certainly interest, challenge, and enrich the thinking of anyone interested in issues of politics and globalization.","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47159537762556,"sku":"9788501093080","price":109.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0722\/9197\/5420\/files\/dbd0814a74952713ad5349a20b8bf42c_92cb6cfb-8d29-406f-927d-95be99d92b36.jpg?v=1778323497"},{"product_id":"multidao-guerra-e-democracia-na-era-do-imperio","title":"Multitude: War and Democracy in the Age of Empire","description":"What's the state of imperialism in the era of American Empire? Many argue that the unilateral war on terror waged by the United States proves that old-fashioned imperialism is still alive and well. After analyzing the new political order of globalization in *Empire*—an absolute critical and popular success, with tens of thousands of copies sold—in *Multitude*, Hardt and Negri argue that the opposite is true: the terrible failures of the American project confirm that the only way for the rich and powerful to preserve their interests and ensure global order is to establish broad collaboration among the dominant powers, in a new form of Empire. But this imperial peace by no means constitutes a solution for most of the world. This peace actually serves to maintain a global state of violence that has progressively permeated every aspect of our society, exacerbating hierarchies and subverting the traditional possibilities of democratic exchange. Has fear become our permanent condition, and democracy an impossible dream? Such pessimism is profoundly misguided, argue Hardt and Negri. By colonizing and increasingly interconnecting a greater number of areas of life, Empire is actually creating the possibility of a new kind of democracy. Converging into a globally networked community, diverse groups and individuals can associate in fluid matrices of resistance; no longer silent and oppressed 'masses,' they can form a multitude, with the power to forge a democratic alternative to the current world order. Overwhelming in its optimism, scope, and depth of vision, Multitude confirms Hardt and Negri as two of the most interesting and important political philosophers working in the world.","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47175370998012,"sku":"9788501070012","price":99.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":false}]},{"product_id":"imperio","title":"EMPIRE","description":"Imperialism may be closer to globalization than one might think. Although imperialism as we know it no longer exists, the idea of empire lives on. And it is—as Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri analyze in EMPIRE—the new political order of globalization. This book shows how the emerging empire is not so different from the European imperialist domination and capitalist expansion that occurred in the early 19th and 20th centuries, respectively. Only today's \"empire\" brings elements of American constitutionalism, with its multicultural tradition of border expansion. Hardt and Negri analyze the cultural, economic, and legal changes that have occurred in recent decades and show how they are easier to identify than to grasp. And they go further: they insist that these changes only make sense if dissected linearly and compared to our own definition of empire throughout the ages, a universal order that knows no limits or boundaries. EMPIRE identifies a sudden shift in the concepts that form the very philosophical basis of modern politics—such as sovereignty, nation, and people. Hardt and Negri relate this philosophical shift to economic and cultural upheavals in postmodern society—the new form of racism, new concepts of identity and difference, new technologies of information, communication, and control, and new immigration routes. The authors also demonstrate the power of transnational corporations and the growing predominance of recent forms of labor and production. More than a simple analysis, EMPIRE is a work of political philosophy that examines regimes of exploitation and control in our world order, seeking a new, truly democratic political paradigm. Michael Hardt is a professor of literature at Duke University. He is the author of *Gilles Deleuze - An Apprenticeship in Philosophy* and co-author, with Antonio Negri, of *Labor of Dionysus: A Critique of the State-form*. He edited *Radical Thought in Italy* with Paolo Virno and *The Jameson Reader* with Kathi Weeks. He is currently researching the work of Pier Paolo Pasolini. Antonio Negri, an Italian social scientist and philosopher, was born in Padua in 1933. Sentenced to 13 years in prison, he exiled himself to Paris for 14 years. He returned to Italy and, since 1997, has been serving his sentence in Rebibbia Prison in Rome—currently in a semi-open regime. He is the author of *The Savage Anomaly—Power and Potency in Spinoza*; *The Politics of Subversion: A Manifesto for the 21st Century*; *Communists Like Us*, with Felix Guatarri; and *Constituent Power and the Modern State*.","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47175496007932,"sku":"9788501059550","price":109.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":false}]}],"url":"https:\/\/www.record.com.br\/en\/collections\/michael-hardt.oembed","provider":"Editora Record","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
