Analytical Discourse: New Symptoms and New Social Bonds, a new book by psychoanalyst Tania Coelho dos Santos, aims to answer the following questions: Is psychoanalysis a science? Can it be considered an individualistic ideology, an ethic, or a practice? How does an analyzed subject position themselves before other individuals in society? As a rebel, a barbarian, an innovator, or simply someone who knows how to deal with their symptoms? The author based this work on research conducted on articles and sentimental letters published in women's magazines between 1956 and 1982. Who Needs Analysis Today? Analytical Discourse: New Symptoms and New Social Bonds portrays the theoretical foundations of psychoanalysis' relationship with modern Western culture, the birth of psychoanalysis, and the relationship between modern science and individualistic ethics, from the perspectives of Freud and Lacan. At the end of the book, the fate of psychoanalytic culture and women's psychology after the 1980s is explained. In Tania Coelho's view, the spread of knowledge about the unconscious deepened uncertainties about our true feelings, values, and desires. These concerns have added greater unease to the culture and have the effect of increasing the need for self-knowledge and, consequently, the search for psychoanalysis. Indispensable for scholars, this book is an excellent source of information and a reference work for both teachers and students in this field. The author, Tania Coelho dos Santos, is a psychoanalyst in private practice. She was a member of the Iracy Doyle Psychoanalytic Society until 1998, when she joined the Freudian Field. She graduated in Psychology from PUC in 1977, where she completed her master's degree in 1982. In 1990, she earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He has been dedicated to higher education since 1978. From 1990 onwards, he began teaching courses and supervising master's dissertations and doctoral theses in Psychoanalysis, in the Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalytic Theory at UFRJ, a pioneer in this area of research.","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47174918930684,"sku":"9788528608373","price":74.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0722\/9197\/5420\/files\/d15635c732ab2563cbcbfe5c299e5032_7dc7b95d-2b00-42af-ac42-a1819cf4a3c8.jpg?v=1778320605"}],"url":"https:\/\/www.record.com.br\/en\/collections\/tania-coelho-dos-santos.oembed","provider":"Editora Record","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
