{"product_id":"indicadores-ambientais-e-recursos-hidricos","title":"ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATORS AND WATER RESOURCES","description":"Environmental Indicators and Water Resources, by Antônio Pereira Magalhães Júnior, is a book aimed at all those concerned about the state of the environment and, specifically, water resources in Brazil. It directly addresses two multidisciplinary topics that are increasingly attracting the attention of different sectors of Brazilian society: environmental quality and the need for sustainable water resource management. We have witnessed a recent explosion of studies demonstrating the gravity of the planet's environmental situation. Historical processes of overexploitation and pollution of water bodies, both in quantity and quality, occur even in countries rich in freshwater, such as Brazil. This book seeks to support water resource protection initiatives in Brazil by studying a management tool still relatively little used in the country: environmental indicators. These are dynamic information in time and space, with recognized qualities for aiding decision-making processes in water resource protection. In situations of data scarcity, they enhance the quality of what is available and highlight information gaps. In this context, environmental indicators have been gaining attention in various parts of the world, particularly in countries such as the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, and France; in the latter, the participatory management experience, initiated in 1964, underpinned the National Water Resources Policy. Therefore, we studied in detail the French experience of using indicators, considering the similarities of the management system, but also the striking physical and socioeconomic differences compared to Brazil. Thus, *Environmental Indicators and Water Resources*, by Antônio Pereira Magalhães Júnior, presents a picture of the reality of potentially useful environmental indicators in Brazil and provides methodological support for the construction and use of indicators in water resources management. In this sense, the importance of visual representation of environmental information is highlighted. Cartography can enhance the quality of information and its comprehension by various sectors of society, including those represented in the River Basin Committees. It is an important contribution to initiatives in favor of the study and protection of Brazilian waters.","brand":"Totvsrj-record-dc","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47175515373820,"sku":"9788528612462","price":129.9,"currency_code":"BRL","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0722\/9197\/5420\/files\/275e4133a566208db273a93914aebf67.jpg?v=1778320605","url":"https:\/\/www.record.com.br\/en\/products\/indicadores-ambientais-e-recursos-hidricos","provider":"Editora Record","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
