Welcome to Crimson Peak.
Edith Cushing, a young woman in the Victorian era, dreams of writing a book. Although, according to her, she is an irritable misanthrope, she is no different from other young women of her time. However, there is something dark in her past. At the age of ten, Edith suffered two major traumas: the death of her mother and, three weeks later, an encounter with a ghost—Mrs. Cushing, her own mother. To this day, Edith remembers that night: the ticking of the clock, the creaking of the floorboards, the rustle of the silk robe in which her mother was buried, the cracking of bones beneath the wasting skin, the decaying hand on her shoulder... and a cryptic message.
Sparing no effort to realize her dream, she ends up meeting Sir Thomas Sharpe, a mysterious man with lands in England and a creative mind like her own. This soon piques the young woman's interest, and she seeks more information about him and Allerdale Hall, the Sharpe family's ancestral estate. However, what Edith doesn't find in her research are the terrible secrets kept by the English nobleman, which will haunt her forever.
Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, desire hides beneath Crimson Peak .
