The courtesan and the samurai

In 1868, Japan is divided between those for and against the shogun. In this context, the beautiful Hana flees after being abandoned by her family and husband, and is sold as a courtesan. However, in this new occupation, she discovers truths about herself that she never imagined. At the same time, Yozo, one of the shogun's men, returns to Japan and finds his former leader deposed from power. He joins the rebels but is arrested. After escaping, he meets Hana, and their fates are irrevocably altered.
