The extraordinary career of Nicodemo Dyzma

In the chaos of metropolitan Warsaw, a party invitation found in the open gives Nicodemo Dyzma, a job seeker, the opportunity to take the plunge, when in reality he wants nothing more than a free meal. Disturbed in the most ancient and barbaric of human activities—eating—he reacts violently, grabbing the intruder by the elbow and hurling insults at him. This boldness ultimately leads Nicodemo to the paradise of power and sets the red carpet of fortune rolling out before his feet.
