The party of the century

Niccolò Ammaniti is known for his courageous writing. In his previous novel, "As God Commands," he exposed the world of the excluded, the marginalized, and the brutalized Italians in a consumerist society. Now, in his excellent latest book, "The Party of the Century," the author presents the society of vanity that important figures will enjoy. With just one caveat: not in the way they expected. On one side, the reader follows the soulful states of a writer in his thirties facing the greatest crisis of inspiration of his career. On the other, a satanic sect composed of four demonic beasts, soldiers of Satan himself, who dream of an action that will make history in Hell. In "The Party of the Century," Ammaniti writes an ode to the futility of today's society. To this end, he brings together celebrities, such as fake intellectuals, soccer players, Nobel Prize-winning writers, dishonest politicians, and porn stars, in a celebration alongside creatures sent by the devil himself. It all takes place at the home of real estate magnate Salvatore Chiatti. According to the author, he attempts, through a funny and creative plot, to satire Berlusconi's vulgarity. The result is a stunning and merciless novel.
