Imagine a place where, like books, the dead rest on shelves.
Every body has a story to tell, a life laid out in images that only Librarians can read. Here, the dead are called Stories, and the vast domain in which they rest is the Archive.
Four years ago, Mackenzie Bishop was brought to this place by her grandfather when she was just a twelve-year-old girl—scared, but determined to prove herself. Now, her grandfather is dead, and Mac has become what he once was: a ruthless guardian, tasked with preventing Stories—often violent—from awakening and escaping the Archive. Her job requires her to lie to those she loves and learn to see fear as a resource very useful for her survival.
Being a guardian is not only dangerous, but also a constant reminder of all Mac's losses. Still reeling from her grandfather's death, she also has to deal with the death of her younger brother. Thus, she begins to question the threshold between the living and the dead, the awake and the asleep. In the Archive, the dead are never to be disturbed, but someone seems to be deliberately altering Histories and erasing their essential parts. Unless Mac can piece together the remaining pieces, the Archive itself will suffer the consequences.
"As well-written as it is imaginative, The Storykeeper is a rare book that captivates the reader through both the mind and the heart, engaging them long after the last page has been turned. It has earned a special place on my Guardian shelf." — Rachel Hawkins, author of the Hex Hall series
"A thrilling plot, a setting that haunted me in my dreams, a breathtaking story. A truly beautiful, dark, and masterful book." — Ruta Sepeteys, author of Life in Shades of Gray
