Child psychology

Child psychology studies mental growth and behavioral development until the transitional phase of adolescence, which marks the individual's entry into adulthood. Mental growth is inseparable from physical growth, particularly the maturation of the nervous and endocrine systems, which continues until approximately age 16. From a theoretical perspective, child psychology should be considered the study of a particular sector of general embryogenesis, extending far beyond birth and encompassing all growth, both organic and mental, until the arrival of the state of relative equilibrium that constitutes adulthood.

Environmental influences become increasingly important from birth onward, both from an organic and mental perspective. Child psychology, therefore, cannot rely solely on factors of biological maturation.
