"

With illustrations and layout similar to the first edition of 1944, A ronda das temporadas is part of the Rubáiyát Collection reissue and is translated by Lúcio Cardoso, one of the greatest novelists of the 20th century.

In The Round of the Seasons (Ritusamhara), written in the 5th century, Kalidasa connects nature and sensual pleasures, revealing how passionate love is rekindled and transformed with the arrival of each new season. Lyricism and passion permeate the entire text. The erotic poem was likely written in the author's youth, and he is known as one of the greatest Sanskrit writers of all time.

The translation is by Lúcio Cardoso, one of Brazil's most important writers and poets. Born in Curvelo, Minas Gerais, in 1912, he is the author of the acclaimed novel "Chronicle of the Murdered House." He translated several works for Editora José Olympio, including "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy and "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. In 1966, he received the Machado de Assis Prize for his body of work. He died in 1968 in Rio de Janeiro, RJ.

The Round of the Stations is part of the reissue of titles from the Rubáiyát Collection, celebrating the 90th anniversary of José Olympio, one of the country's pioneering and most innovative publishers. This publication gives today's readers the opportunity to explore this historic collection—composed of great Eastern and Western classics.
