The lived translation

Paulo Rónai (1907-1992), Hungarian by birth and early literacy, also studied in France and Italy before disembarking in Brazil, fleeing World War II. There, he befriended Aurélio Buarque de Holanda, Cecília Meireles, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Guimarães Rosa, and others. His experiences and knowledge, acquired after decades of dedication to translation, are recounted in this book that is at once didactic and intimate, professional and relaxed.
