THE SUBMERGED VOICE is a feverish novel, an instant delirium triggered by the sight of the lifeless body of student Edson Luís Souto being carried by an outraged crowd who deposited him on the steps of City Hall in Cinelândia in 1968. The event, witnessed by Salim Miguel, would leave an indelible mark on him. After trying in vain to put the story on paper in the form of a report and a short story, the novel came to life.
