Accident in Matacavalos

Two young brothers, Russian immigrants, arrive in Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the 20th century and attempt to start their lives over. Their integration into the new city unfolds throughout Kacowicz's inspired narrative, which takes the reader on a journey through Rio de Janeiro in the 1920s—its atmosphere, its customs, the emergence of new neighborhoods, the daily routine of newspapers, the political unrest—in short, the entire effervescence of the then-capital of the country.
