The Throne of Glass Box Set features, for the first time, the global phenomenon series in a lush hard-sided box and books with a new graphic design. Includes themed bookmarks and a poster of the character Manon Blackbeak.
Throne of Glass tells the story of Celaena Sardothien, an assassin born in a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron fist. After serving a year of slave labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, she is dragged before the crown prince.
Prince Dorian offers Celaena her freedom, but under one condition: she must win a competition to become the new royal assassin. Her opponents are thieves, assassins, and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she defeats her competitors in a series of eliminations, she will serve the kingdom for three years as an assassin and then be granted her freedom.
The young woman readily accepts the challenge and begins training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall. Training is challenging and exciting, but life at court is endlessly boring. However, things become more interesting when Prince Dorian begins to show feelings for her.
When one by one, other contestants turn up dead under obscure circumstances, it becomes clear that something quite evil resides within the glass castle—and is there to kill. Celaena decides to investigate before she becomes the next victim, and her search leads her to discover a destiny far greater than she could have imagined.
