Sinopse
The first historical document about Brazil, adapted by Rubem Braga. The letter that Pero Vaz de Caminha wrote upon landing on the Island of Vera Cruz, informing the king of Portugal of the discovery of Brazil, is considered the birth certificate of our country. The letter describes the relief of the "new island," as well as the first mass celebrated in the New World and the first barter between the Portuguese and the Indians. Dated May 1, 1500, and sent from Porto Seguro, Bahia, the text was archived in the National Archives of the Torre do Tombo, in Lisbon, only to be rediscovered 200 years later. Its first publication in Brazil was in 1817, by Father Manuel Aires de Casal, in his Corografia Brasílica.
