Fifty Shades of Mr. Darcy: A Parody

Imagine Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, protagonists of Pride and Prejudice, casting aside morality and modesty and giving vent to their most hidden desires in a more perverted way than Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, characters in Fifty Shades of Grey. The result: Fifty Shades of Mr. Darcy, the incredible and hilarious parody written by a famous Englishman under the pseudonym Emma Thomas. It's interesting to note how the author combined two such distinct languages: one classic and demure, the other modern and colloquial. Furthermore, it's clear that Thomas meticulously studied both novels, blending the best passages and situations from the stories. However, irony is obviously the main characteristic of Fifty Shades of Mr. Darcy: "If I could show you (...) how a game of backgammon could equal the excitement of nipple clamps, and how adorning a hat could give as much pleasure to the senses as the insertion of an extra-large butt plug." A must-read for those who loved Jane Austen's book and/or E.L. James's. Ultimately, one thing's for sure: everyone will want to read other classic novels in spicy versions.
