Cyrano de Begerac

A product of late Romanticism, Cyrano de Bergerac was written and first performed in 1897, when the process of renewal that would define the avant-garde movements of the 20th century had already begun in all fields of art. The author, Edmond Rostand (1868-1918), based this work on the life of the French writer Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac (1619-1655).
