Of cattle and men

Edgar Wilson is the protagonist of this narrative set two years after the story of Animal Charcoal. The former charcoal burner works in a cattle slaughterhouse, and although he prefers raising pigs, he is involved in the hamburger production process, something he's never experienced before. Expertly performing the role of a stunner, the slaughterer, along with his boss and other employees, finds himself stunned by the unexpected deaths of animals and the questions these previously impossible events raise. The slaughterhouse, the city, and the characters are fictional, but Ana Paula's writing transforms an often-overlooked everyday reality into reality, sparking reflection on work, destiny, and existence.
