Absolutely true diary of a part-time Indian

Arnold Spirit Junior's life seems like it couldn't get any worse: he lives on one of the poorest Indigenous reservations in the country, was born with hydrocephalus, which makes his head enormous, is nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other, and is the butt of jokes among his tribe. But in a burst of courage, Arnold decides to change his life: seeking a better future, he requests a transfer to a white school in a small town near the reservation. And, just as everything seems increasingly dire, he discovers that his roots and his future, though seemingly distant, are the perfect reason for him to find his place in this world.
