This edition brings together not only the first volume of the Diary, published in 1960, but also the complete Diary, published posthumously by José Olympio in 1970, adding previously unpublished notes that remained unknown among the author's originals. Ésio restores the displaced fragments of the Diary to their proper places, allowing the reader to follow the course of the writer's reflections and thoughts at the right time. Helping to dispel misconceptions about Lúcio Cardoso's work, the corrections also reveal interesting insights into the genesis of his books.
