For the author, three major thematic complexes are driving current global discussion: ecology, globalization, and spirituality. With climate change, the issue of ecology has become vital. It is the urgent response to the threats to our planet and the future of life. Where is globalization taking us? We live in the iron age of this economic-financial process that excludes and marginalizes millions of people. Spirituality always resurfaces when a civilization like ours—globalized—enters into crisis. It is through spirituality that great dreams and a higher meaning are developed, capable of sustaining another attempt at civilization. Spirituality is not a monopoly of religions, but is deeply connected to humanity. It is necessary to give it space in the lives of people and societies so that the transition to a new global society can be made in a constructive and inclusive way.
