Fetishism

The concept of fetishism in Freudian theory is analyzed in this volume of the collection Para ler Freud .

In *Fetishism: Colonizing the Other* , Vladimir Safatle analyzes the concept in Freudian theory and reflects on what was at stake when the Viennese psychoanalyst used it. The USP professor also examines how the term has been appropriated by various fields of knowledge, such as Marx's theory. Fetishism was fundamental to Freud's development of the theory of perversion and the formation of the self, and also served to highlight the subject's relationship with their desires in psychoanalysis.

Each volume in the collection Para ler Freud is dedicated to presenting one of Freud's texts, selected according to the criterion of importance within the scope of the work and, at the same time, its interest for the discussion of contemporary themes in psychoanalysis and beyond.
