Christian Jacq nasceu em Paris, em 1947. Egiptólogo renomado, é doutor em Estudos Egípcios pela Sorbonne. Em 1995, lançou a Série Ramsés em cinco volumes, que o consagrou definitivamente na carreira literária. Esta já vendeu mais de 12 milhões de exemplares em 29 países de todo o mundo.
