Normative grammar of the Portuguese language

This Normative Grammar brings together the most comprehensive study of the Portuguese language. Professor Rocha Lima's Normative Grammar of the Portuguese Language has established itself as a reference work spanning generations. First published in 1957, this historical grammar is recognized for its excellence by the millions of teachers who use it in the classroom, by students and those interested in the proper use of the language who consult it at home, and by prominent figures in the Portuguese language and Brazilian literature, such as Antônio Houaiss, Rachel de Queiroz, and José Cândido de Carvalho. This present edition is comparable to the so-called "historical" edition of the great Grammar, the 31st of 1991. It is also historic because, for the first time since its initial publication in 1957, it has been retouched and enriched. Its relevance has remained relevant over the years with the author's constant revision and updating, until 1991, the year of his death. In 2010, the Grammar was renewed once again, incorporating the changes of the new Orthographic Agreement of the Portuguese Language, which came into force in 2009. It is divided into four parts: phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax and rudiments of stylistics and poetics, totaling 35 chapters.
