In Russian Winter , a mysterious set of amber jewelry holds the key to a half-century-old secret.
In post-World War II Russia, Bolshoi Ballet ballerina Nina Revskaya quickly rises in her career and becomes a star in the Moscow cultural scene. Passionate about dance, she is married to Viktor Elsin, a Soviet poet who supports Stalinism. Caught in a web of mistrust and lies, the couple begins to question their own beliefs, leading Nina, after a horrific discovery, to flee to the West, settling in Boston.
Five decades later, the ballerina decides to auction her magnificent jewelry collection, including a rare amber set. However, one of the pieces, a once-missing necklace, turns up in the hands of Grigori Solodin, a Russian teacher and translator of Elsin's work. Nina immediately finds herself surrounded by memories of her past and moments—some glorious, others devastating—that changed her life.
She managed to keep her secrets for a long time, but now this encounter will force her to confront her ghosts.
