Secretly, Libby hopes an authentic country experience will transform Nora's life, as her sister is convinced she needs to become the heroine of her own story. But instead of picnics in the countryside or unexpected encounters with a handsome doctor, or perhaps a muscular bartender, Nora bumps into Charlie Lastra, a grumpy editor she knows from New York. It would be one of those meet-cutes if it weren't for the fact that they've seen each other before—and it's never been cute.

If Nora knows she's not the ideal heroine, Charlie also knows he's no one's hero. But as they find themselves together again and again—in a series of coincidences no self-respecting editor would allow—what they discover may ultimately unravel the carefully crafted stories they've written about themselves.
