Killing butterflies

First love, lost innocence, and the beauty that can be found even in the most perverse circumstances. Sphinx and Cadence—betrothed in childhood and engaged in adolescence. Sphinx is sweet, compassionate, and ordinary. Cadence is brilliant, charismatic—and sick. As a child, he scarred her with a knife. Now, as Cadence's illness progresses, he becomes increasingly difficult. No one knows it yet, but Cadence is incapable of feeling. Sphinx wants to remain loyal to him, but fears for her life.
