THE CODE OF THE JUST

A man is stabbed in Manhattan. It would be just another crime in the city's statistics, were it not for the seemingly inconsequential details: the victim was anesthetized before death and left carefully covered. Will Monroe, a young New York Times reporter, writes a brilliant report on the case, which ends up making the newspaper's front page. But by a terrible coincidence, a series of murders with the same characteristics occur around the world: a pastor is executed in Rio de Janeiro, a successful businessman is found dead in Thailand, and an Indian teenager is strangled in Mumbai. Stunned by the macabre similarities, Monroe decides to deepen his investigation and searches for common evidence. But soon the reporter receives a chilling email: "We have your wife. Call the police and you will regret it. Forever." Desperate about the message, Monroe asks a computer expert friend to track down the anonymous message. Apparently, the email was sent from Brooklyn, an area home to an Orthodox Jewish community. With the help of an ex-girlfriend, a scholar of Jewish mysticism, the reporter learns about the enigmatic Jewish Kabbalah and discovers an ancient prophecy that the end of the world may be near... unless Monroe can prevent it. The reporter must then face the mysteries of an ancient sect, which leads him to ancient biblical enigmas. It is the beginning of a dangerous and long journey, marked by blackmail and sordid crimes.
