This book deals with Christian Gnosticism. It reveals that the discovery of the Nag Hammadi manuscripts in Egypt, published in the 1970s, revolutionized our understanding of this religion. It demonstrated that Christianity in the first three centuries had little in common with that adopted by Emperor Constantine in the fourth century, which was soon transformed into the state religion.
