The haiku of lost words

In the midst of World War II, Kazuo, a Dutch boy living in Japan, and Junko, the beautiful daughter of a flower arranger, meet daily on a hilltop in Nagasaki. There, they spy on a prison camp and secretly nurture their passion for each other. When she proposes a game—bringing four haikus over four days to read together—Kazuo knows the final poem will reveal the love hidden in his beloved's heart. However, shortly before their fourth meeting, the atomic bomb falls on the city. But what appears to be a tragic ending is only the beginning of a love story that will span generations.
