The Valley of Israel: The Technological Shield of Innovation

The elements of Israeli culture that have enabled the emergence of such a successful and innovative high-tech economy. In Israel Valley, entrepreneur Édouard Cukierman, in partnership with Daniel Rouach, investigates how Israel—the Startup Nation—was able to create and maintain technological leadership in an unfavorable geopolitical environment through a solid innovation and R&D network, public policies, education, and support for interested young people. The book addresses topics such as the Israeli spirit of chutzpah, a blend of courage and audacity; mandatory military service; and intense networking activities. It also analyzes the impact of the military and high technology on Israel's survival and development and what useful lessons other countries and their companies can draw from the Israeli experience. Some of the points developed are incentives for the transfer of technology from the military to the civilian sphere, the Israeli Intelligence's 8200 unit of excellence, openness in the university-industry relationship and encouragement of young talent and incubators. Finally, it seeks to conceptualize a model that can describe the reasons for the success of Israeli high technology: the shield, an active epicenter open to the world.
