Sinopse
"

Book that introduced the work of feminist Michelle Perrot to Brazil.

History's Excluded examines three peripheral social groups—workers, women, and prisoners—in 19th-century France. Essential reading, it illuminates not only how power unfolds pragmatically and symbolically, but also the beauty of resistance and rebellion among marginalized individuals and groups.

“Women are neither passive nor submissive. They are present here and there. They are different. They assert themselves through different words, different gestures. In the city, in the factory itself, they have different daily practices, concrete forms of resistance—to hierarchy, to discipline—that defeat the rationality of power, grafted onto their own use of time and space. They trace a path that needs to be rediscovered. A different story. A different history.”

The book is composed of articles selected by Professor Maria Stella Martins Bresciani, who also wrote the introduction and the blurb.
