In a bustling Paris after World War I, the most important names in 20th-century literature coexisted: Fitzgerald, Hemingway, D.H. Lawrence, Joyce, Miller, Pound, Gertrude Stein, and Edith Wharton. These artists chose to live in complete independence, adopting Montparnasse as their bohemian retreat, and forming a group that marked the history of literature and still attracts the attention of critics and the public.
