Sinopse

"A fundamental chapter in medieval history, this book, full of clarity, subtlety, and erudition, introduces the reader to a fundamental author, intimate with the archives, skilled in critiquing documents, agile in interpreting their silences, energetic in revealing their contradictions. Masterfully moving from the long duration of specific facts, from the material to the spiritual, Jacques Le Goff explains the history of medieval intellectuals. But he also confirms their role and place among the greatest intellectuals of our time." - Mary Del Priore.
