When he launched his Instagram account (pedrocardosoeumesmo), actor, screenwriter, and writer Pedro Cardoso had no idea, nor any intention, that it would be a platform for publishing something resembling a political column—nor that he would address the public as himself, no longer lending his voice to a character. He never aspired to theoretical thought. However, his daily reflections form a kind of mosaic of Brazil's political situation, while also denouncing the manipulation of truth and the rise of authoritarianism in the country.

PedroCardosoEuMesmo brings together a selection of the texts he published on his Instagram account between September 6, 2016, and March 31, 2019. They range from the first months of Michel Temer's administration to the first months of Jair Bolsonaro's presidency. Many of them were written under intense anger and bear the mark of the moment, but they have not been modified since they were posted online. What was said should remain said as it was; without corrections from later serenity.

Far from intending to make this a theoretical work of social science or political philosophy, Pedro Cardoso presents himself here as a citizen, seeking a dialogue against Brazilian fascism.
