Five years ago, she died. 178 minutes later, she woke up. When much of Texas's population was decimated by a virus, humans began returning from the dead. The Reboots were stronger, faster, and nearly invincible. The longer a person remained dead, the less human they displayed upon returning as a Reboot. And this was the fate of Wren Connolly, now known as 178, the most ruthless Reboot in the Human Repopulation and Advancement Corporation (HRAC). As the strongest, her main role is to capture Reboots and rogue humans who pose threats to the population, as well as to train new Reboots. When the new batch of rookies arrives at HRAC, a simple 22 catches Wren's eye. And living with him makes 178 begin to question her own life and the rigorous methods of the corporation to which she has dedicated herself. When the most ruthless Reboot begins to question her convictions, the reality of the rebooted begins to change.
