Regurgitophagy

In 2004, Michel Melamed premiered the show Regurgitofagia – based on this book. It is both a reading and an experience of thought through the senses and technology, an interface called "Pau-de-Arara." Through it, all the auditory reactions of the audience (laughter, applause, coughs, boos, etc.) were captured by microphones and transformed into electrical discharges on the author's body. On the one hand, his performance embraces and, at the same time, distances itself from certain modernist assumptions; on the other, it radicalizes certain practices that define contemporary art. In this edition, we discover not only the origins of the show, but also a new incarnation, in words on paper. And, once again, art takes shape.
