Fast Loneliness

The charming protagonist, known by various nicknames—"Cachorrão," "Sampa," "Formigão," "Pluto"—is a motorcycle courier who makes luxury deliveries throughout São Paulo on his Harley Davidson until he's arrested transporting illegal merchandise. Innocent and cornered, he finds himself forced to make deals and participate in a dangerous scheme to obtain his freedom. With the help of many professionals, including diva-like heroines, the motorcycle courier will follow his path in search of redemption. "Veloz solidão" can be read as the script for an action movie, complete with bad guys, good girls, and an unconventional hero. But it could also be an opera libretto, the Ópera Sampa, with all the stories, all the sounds, and frenetic noises of South America's largest city. It's also a tale of the lives of invisible workers who, with their craft, make our lives easier every day.
