Sinopse
The second volume of a trilogy for both those who act and direct, and those who simply study theater. This book emphasizes acting as an art and art as the highest expression of human nature. His constant return to the study of human nature is what distinguishes what became known as the Stanislavski System. It is the foundation of all his theories and the reason they are always undergoing slight modifications: each return to the study of human beings taught something new. As he says of his method in this book: "It's not a suit made to slip on and go, nor a cookbook where we just have to find the page and the recipe is there. No, it's a total system of life." According to playwright Dias Gomes, "Stanislavski hesitated greatly in writing this book. His hesitation stemmed from his fear of dogmatizing his system, of transforming it into a rigid and unalterable formula for theatrical performance. The actor's preparation and the construction of the character itself do not present commandments for the actor, but a truly creative system, subject to constant revision and adaptation to new realities." Stanislavski is not the magic wand with which anyone can become an actor; but, nowadays, it is absurd for any actor to be unaware of it. Even if they don't adopt it, even if they reject it. The construction of the character transcends the strict interest of professionals or theater lovers. In truth, it is the novel of man's fascinating adventure in search of greater knowledge of himself and of your fellow man.
