Sinopse
Who was Antigone? Daughter of Oedipus—the man who, without knowing it, killed his father and married his own mother, becoming king of Thebes. But being his daughter (and, therefore, also his sister) means more than this. In Sophocles' work, fate transcended the limits of Oedipus's life, bringing consequences for his daughter, Antigone, and her siblings. Here, the young woman faces the tyrant Creon alone and becomes the key link in the unleashing of fate, directed against the king for his own recklessness. "Life is short, and a mistake brings a mistake. Defying fate, afterward all is fate," says the chorus. It is also the fate of the entire city that is engendered between the two opponents, between dignity and fear. "If anyone asks who Antigone was," let them answer: "She was the one who died before Thebes." The courage to face fate.
