Pioneiro em Medicina Holística no Brasil, José Hermógenes criou o Treinamento Antidistresse e o Método Yoga para Nervosos. O autor dedica-se ao crescimento espiritual do sespiritual dos seres humanos, dividindo seu tempo no trabalho na Academia Hermógenes, na publicação de livros terapêuticos e de poesia, na produção de artigos para a imprensa, na preparação de cursos, seminários e teses para congressos científicos. Foi criador do Treinamento Antidistresse, do método Yoga para Nervosos, colaborador (com yoga-terapia) da 32° Enfermaria da Santa Casa (RJ), professor de filosofia, além de atividades de conferencista, poeta e ensaísta.
