HGCB - Vol. 3 - Monarchical Brazil: the process of emancipation

The work analyzes various aspects of the country's historical formation, from the material organization of society to the forms of culture and thought. The first two volumes are dedicated to the colonial period. Experts study the process of Brazil's establishment and consolidation as a Portuguese colony, covering everything from economic and sociopolitical aspects to colonial medicine, baroque music, and scientific expeditions. The first volume, "From Discovery to Territorial Expansion," was re-released in March of this year. The monarchical period is covered in five books. It begins with an analysis of the conditions of Brazil's emancipation and concludes with the crisis of the monarchical regime and the transition to the Republic, in a classic volume written entirely by Sérgio Buarque de Holanda. This first volume of Volume II, or the third in the collection, "The Emancipation Process," is divided into four parts: "The New Discovery of Brazil," "The Independence Movement," "External Struggles," and "The First Reign." The four volumes of the republican period are divided into two periods: one before and one after 1930, a year of global crisis and revolution in Brazil. At the end of the books that conclude each period, there is a bibliography and a summary chronology, highlighting the relevant events in Brazil and the world, which serve as a framework for the period studied.
