Animal stories

In "Stories of Animals," Joel Rufino dos Santos tells the adventures of the little white horse with the blue smile who wanted to be the color of the sun, the chick that couldn't hatch, and the golden capybara, among many others. Illustrations by artist Cláudio Martins make these adventures even more entertaining. Joel Rufino dos Santos is a historian born in Rio de Janeiro in 1941. His inspiration comes from the stories his maternal grandmother told him: tales of curupiras, werewolves, Lampião's gang, and boitatás. With dozens of books for adults and children, he was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the most important international prize for children's literature, in 2002 and 2004. Cláudio Martins was born in Minas Gerais in 1948 and has illustrated approximately 300 children's books. He twice won the Jabuti Prize in the illustration category, in 1991 and 1992.
