At once a book of stories and a geographical and historical reflection, Rogério Haesbaert introduces us to the multiple spaces that, through travel or in everyday life itself, unfold—from the East (China, India, Vietnam...) to the West (Cuba, Mexico, Colombia...)—at different moments over the last 25 years. The stories begin in distant places, involving journeys marked by the strength of their differences (such as to Tibet, to towns in northern Vietnam, or to villages in Madagascar), until arriving at spaces of daily living and experience that are supposedly safer, but which are nevertheless free from surprise and the unusual that instigate questioning and change.

This is a book of chronicles, memories, more spontaneous accounts, many of them of travels, of narratives written in the heat of experience, of direct contact with others and their many places, of present-day history and accumulated geography that, at the same time as they announce themselves, through their diversity, are also transforming themselves/us.
