Sinopse

A story of action, intrigue, and love about the life of Saint George. Ventos do Norte is the second volume of the "Holy Warrior" trilogy by bestselling author Eduardo Spohr, establishing his writing in the historical romance genre.

"Holy Warrior" is the first literary series to tell the biography of Saint George from a historical perspective. In this volume, Eusebius, the bishop of Caesarea, describes the youth of Georgios Anicius Gracchus (as the saint was known in Greek) as a Knight of the Purple and a military tribune, one of the highest ranks in the Roman army.

At the end of the third century, the Roman Empire was on the brink of collapse. Barbarian invasions, religious clashes, and military uprisings threatened the sovereignty of the Caesars. To contain these disturbances, the young knight Georgios Gracchus was sent to the fortress of Castra Vetera, on the banks of the Rhine River, in the far north of the country. Far from home, he would have to brave the harsh climate and train his own soldiers as he prepared for the great battle against the Franks, the most dangerous—and cruel—of the tribes then inhabiting Germania.

Warrior Saint: Winds of the North portrays Saint George's youth as a military tribune and commander of the Roman army. Drawing on new academic studies and archaeological remains, the author transports us back to late antiquity, to a time when steel, love, and intrigue governed human destiny—and, consequently, the course of history.

This is the second book in the Santo Guerreiro trilogy, but you can read the three novels separately, or even out of order, as each one explores a phase of Saint George's life, through the eyes of different narrators.

North Winds was preceded by Roma Invicta (2020) and will be succeeded by The Eastern Empire .

"If Eduardo Spohr's talent and ability to weave stories were already unquestionable since The Battle of the Apocalypse, in this admirable Holy Warrior he displays complete mastery of the art and claims a unique, unparalleled position in the Brazilian narrative scene." — Alberto Mussa, winner of the Brazilian Academy of Letters Prize for Fiction
