A crazy desire to dance

Exploring "underground archives" in our minds, "probing the unconscious," as Élie Wiesel put it, can often signal danger. But this danger reveals the face of madness, which can serve as shelter, even salvation. Having already experienced madness as a child and which accompanied him for much of his life, Wiesel turned to literature and psychoanalysis to translate the excess of memories that inhabited his thoughts. The ghosts had names: the Nazi horrors perpetrated in the 20th century, the constant feeling of despair and loss. And an address: concentration camps in Eastern Europe.
